This Sunday: Live Horse Jumping and Pony Rides in Turner Park

Event Starts the Countdown to Omaha’s First World Cup in 2017

The public is invited to Turner Park on Sunday, November 6, to help jumpstart the excitement surrounding Omaha’s first ever World Cup competition – the 2017 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping & FEI World Cup™ Dressage Finals hosted by the Omaha Equestrian Foundation.

Free to all, the Nov. 6 event will offer horse enthusiasts – and enthusiasts-to-be – the thrill of a live show jumping competition and the unveiling of the Longines World Cup countdown clock.

Countdown Kickoff Event Schedule

  • 3:30 p.m. | Pony rides for the kids and a chance to watch Grand Prix riders Dan Urban and Danee Urban from Quail Run Horse Centre in Elkhorn warm up their horses
  • 3:45 p.m. | The unveiling of the Longines World Cup Omaha countdown clock by members of the Omaha Mounted Patrol (clock to remain in Turner Park through early April, 2017)
  • 4:00 p.m. | Show jumping competition – Dan Urban and his sister-in-law Danee jumping their horses against the clock

The FEI World Cup Finals will attract the world’s best horses and riders in two Olympic disciplines to the CenturyLink Center March 29-April 2, 2017. Omaha beat out London, Hong Kong and s’Hertogenbosch for the right to host the competition. It is the first-time Omaha has hosted a World Cup and, by extension, an international professional championship. Riders are expected to represent at least 25 different countries.

“This is an opportunity for sports enthusiasts from the Midwest to see the very best in international equestrian competition without having to travel to the coasts or overseas. For the City of Omaha, it’s our chance to show the more than 60,000 expected visitors from around the United States and the world what a great sports town we are,” says event CEO Mike West.
