Ron Samuelson — a veteran restaurateur formerly of M’s Pub — and his partners at Herbe Sainte plan to take over the Midtown Crossing spot once occupied by the Brix wine bistro.
SamFam Restaurant Group, which involves Samuelson and his nephews Aaron and Justin Halbert, plans to open Della Costa at 220 S. 31st Ave. by May.
The restaurant’s name translates to “of the coast,” and it will focus on “the Mediterranean palate,” Samuelson told The World-Herald. That will include Italian seafood and flavor influences from Greece, Morocco, Spain and southern France.
Samuelson said diners can expect a lot of grilled dishes at Della Costa during both the lunch and dinner hours, along with oysters, octopus and squid. He said the group has been working on an Italian concept for a while, but wanted to bring something other than pizza and traditional pastas.
