Zydeco Festival Returning to Turner Park This Summer

 C. J. Chenier, Creole son of the Grammy Award-winning King of Zydeco" to Headline Festival

Midtown Crossing is bringing the “bayou” back – by popular demand! The high-energy Zydeco Festival returns to the Pavilion at Turner Park on Saturday, June 25, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. – eight hours of good-time zydeco music, Creole- and Cajun-style food, fireworks, activities, games and giveaways. Last year’s inaugural event drew 10,000 people throughout the day.

“We had such an incredible time last June, an encore was a given,” said Molly Skold, Midtown Crossing’s vice president of marketing and communications. “Jambalaya, craw fish boils and the best local and imported zydeco acts – without the 900-mile drive to Louisiana; it just doesn’t get any better.”

Local Zydeco Band The Prairie Gators are set to open the festival at 2 p.m.

The music continues all afternoon and evening with an award-winning line-up of Louisiana-based musicians:

CJ Chenier, Creole son of the Grammy Award-winning King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier, is set to headline the festival and will close out the day of live music.

Bluesy at its roots with Creole influence, modern zydeco also incorporates R&B, soul, reggae androck.Midtown Crossing restaurants will be on location during the one-of-a-kind, regional festival, offering cold drinks and “zydeco-themed” food. Restaurants on the park are accepting outdoor patio reservations.

A fireworks finale over Turner Park will complete the day-long festival.

There is no charge to attend the Turner Park Festival. Midtown Crossing offers three hours of free garage parking for guests.
